Committee vacancies announced for 2020
7 positions need to be filled on four of CEC committees for terms beginning January 1, 2020. Vacancies and terms appear below. Preview the Committee Volunteer Interest Form for 2020 positions. The official online Committee Interest Form (link below) must be completed by any CEC member wishing to be considered for a position on a CEC committee. As an alternative for applicants requiring accessible materials, you may submit the preview form (above) electronically by emailing it to Sharon Rodriguez.

Committee appointments are determined by the chair, subject to approval by the President. Appointed committee members are required to complete the Committee Member Agreement and Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Statement.
The time commitment is approximately 1 hour every other month for a conference call, and an additional 1-2 hours per month for other activities such as online discussions, reviewing materials, etc. Many committees also have a 1-hour meeting at the annual convention. Attendance via conference call is an option if you are unable to attend the convention.
Positions Open by Committee
Finance and Audit – 1 position; 3-year term
The Finance and Audit Standing Committee monitors the financial health of the organization (budget and investments), reviews the annual Program Plan and Budget (PPB) prior to presentation to the Board of Directors; makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors concerning the adoption of the annual PPB; and consults with CEC staff regarding development of the annual PPB.

Honors – 2 positions; 3-year terms
The Honors Committee reviews applications for, and selects the recipients of, CEC’s Professional Awards and periodically reviews the Awards program and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for enhancements.

Professional Standards and Practice – 2 positions; 3-year terms
The Professional Standards and Practice Committee studies the area of professional standards and their impact on, and application, to CEC members and others involved in the education of children and youth with exceptionalities; advises the Board of Directors regarding CEC policies and activities relating to professional standards; and develops guidelines and other materials to assist the field in meeting CEC professional standards.

Yes I Can – 2 positions; 3-year terms
The Yes I Can Committee publicizes the YIC awards to ensure outstanding entries; seeks and solicits nominations; evaluates the nominees for each category and select recipients; plans an awards ceremony; periodically reviews award categories and criteria; sets sponsorship levels; maintains a sponsor prospectus; identifies potential sponsors and donors; and develops awards program marketing and communications plans.
