Presentation Information & Tips

CEC strives to maintain a high-quality convention program. The following information is intended to help you as you prepare your presentation.

1. All convention presentations will take place at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center.

2. All presentations are open to registered attendees and the media.

3. The meeting facility enforces strict fire codes. Please review the Meeting Room Capacities & Handout Information page  to determine the capacity for your particular room. No standing or sitting on the floor will be allowed. Violations of the fire code could cause the conference to be shut down.

4. CEC does not provide Internet access, as it is cost-prohibitive. However, many facilities now offer wireless access throughout.

5. Plan ahead to ensure that your materials are delivered to the meeting room. Please read the Advance Shipping and Copying Services information. CEC has negotiated a special rate for copying services. It may be easier to send a digital file ahead of your arrival!

6. Plan to arrive at your assigned meeting room early to check on your equipment. Also check the focus and centering of projected images on the overhead projector.

7. Please do not change the room setup or tack or tape items to meeting room walls.

8. Provide your own blank transparencies and pens. Be sure your transparencies are readable in a large room. We recommend you use a bold font size of at least 24-point.

9. Handouts should be printed clearly. Bring a quantity sufficient for your room size.

10. Please take 30 seconds at the beginning of your presentation to introduce yourself to the audience.

11. In your presentation, avoid the use of language that can be construed as degrading to any group.

12. It is inappropriate to promote commercial materials during your presentation.

13. Begin and end on time. When you have finished your presentation, leave quickly to allow the next presenter time to prepare. If you wish to field additional questions, please use the back of the room or the hallway.

14. If you need to cancel your presentation due to an emergency, please notify Renee Glasby at reneeg@cec.sped.org or (703) 264-9422.
