Submit a Proposal for the 2009 Convention and Expo

Please read the following information carefully before submitting a proposal!

On behalf of Gerry Reynaud,  Program Chairperson, we invite you to submit a proposal for CEC’s 2009 Convention & Expo, April 1-4, in Seattle, Washington.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING YOUR PROPOSAL IS MAY 27, 2008

Guidelines for Proposals

  • Read the instructions carefully before completing the online form. It may be helpful to develop your proposal description prior to beginning the online form.
  • ALL information requested must be included; ALL fields on the online form are required.
  • Please review your proposal thoroughly before submitting. Proposals that do not meet stated guidelines will not be reviewed.
  • All fields MUST be completed!
  • Obligation of Presenters
    • All presenters are required to register for the convention. Presenters must register by November 1, 2008!
    • To encourage broad program participation, an individual may only be included as a session leader or presenter in ONE demonstration, lecture, panel presentation or multiple presentation session, and ONE poster session. If a presenter is involved in a presentation and poster session, the individual is required to present at both sessions.
  • Due to the limited program slots, the Program Chair and Program Advisory Committee may determine it necessary to assign your session a format or length of time different from the one you select.  Please be sure to consider the following three options included in Section A: Proposal Information Guidelines:
    • Acceptance of Another Session Type - Indicate if you are willing to accept another session format. (Please note that the alternate format may be a poster session.)
    • Acceptance of an Alternative Session length: If you are willing to accept a session of a different length, e.g., 1 hour instead of 2 hours, please check the appropriate box.
    • We are continuing our pilot of the Multiple Presentation Session, if you are willing to be considered to be part of a multiple presentation session, please check the appropriate box. Multiple presentation sessions are 1- to 2-hour sessions in which 2 or 3 presenters are given approximately 10-15 minutes each to present their papers on a common topic, followed by 15-20 minutes of dialogue led by a discussant. The Program Chair and Program Advisory Committee will group and assign proposals to these sessions.
  • Individual requests for particular times cannot be granted; therefore, submission of a proposal assumes that you will present at the time you are scheduled.
  • Persons presenting at CEC conventions or related programs are expected to use material and language that do not discriminate on the basis of culture, gender, language, race/ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, families, and/or educators with disabilities.
  • Proposals that promote commercially available products, services or programs, will not be accepted. The venue for commercially available products is an Exhibitor Showcase Session. Please contact CEC’s Exhibits Manager, Victor Erickson, to discuss the availability of Exhibitor Showcase Sessions, victore@cec.sped.org, (703-264-9454).
