What's New?

  • CEC has joined with the Open Society Institute to include children with disabilities in Step by Step Programs. Step by Step promotes equal access to quality education for children from birth through age 10 in 29 countries. Learn more about Step by Step.
  • USA EMPLOYMENT facilitates a process for experienced teachers from all countries, who possess excellent English communication skills, to fill permanent, full-time positions in U.S. schools. See: http://www.usaemployment.org
  • Preparing Teachers Around the World, a 2003 report from Educational Testing Service, USA, examines policies, practice, and access to the teaching field in seven countries (Australia, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, The Netherlands, and Singapore) and compares them with the United States. The focus is on preparation of teachers of science and math at grade 8. For the full text, go to:

  • Joy Zabala and Chauncy Rucker are new managers of the Worldwide Technology Desk of the CEC Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES), and they are recruiting participants who are interested in technology for individuals with disabilities – assistive or instructional technology, distance learning, technology integration, multi-media, video conferencing and more. Joy and Chauncy plan to set up an email list for sharing ideas about special education technology around the world. This might lead to a database of information on international technology research, practices, and conferences. If you have an interest in international technology, please get in touch. You do not have to be a DISES member to join this activity.
