For what does 'CEC' stand?
CEC stands for the Council for Exceptional Children. CEC is a
professional association of special education teachers and
administrators; related service providers such as school psychologists,
occupational therapists, and social workers; university professors,
undergraduate and graduate students; and parents. The association works
to advance the educational success of students with disabilities and/or
gifts and talents and support those who serve this special
population.

"Yes
I Can" Recognition Awards for Students with Disabilities
Each year 35 children and youth with disabilities are recognized for
their accomplishments through the international Yes I Can! program. The
"Yes I Can" awards acknowledge the achievements of children and youth
with disabilities and increase public awareness of the abilities
individuals with disabilities. To learn more about these prestigious

Minigrants for Special Educators
Each year minigrant awards of up to $500.00 are made to teachers for
innovative education-related projects that directly benefit gifted
children or youth and/or children and youth with disabilities. Awards of
up to $1000 are to be made for innovative science and technical projects
that directly benefit children and youth with disabilities.
Leadership Opportunities
CEC membership gives you several ways to get involved as a leader and a
practitioner.
Opportunities to Publish - CEC offers numerous opportunities
for members, including teachers, higher education professionals,
researchers, and students, to publish their work. In addition to our
journals, CEC also publishes books, monographs, and videos on special
education issues and practices.

Opportunities to Present - CEC invites members to present at
its highly-respected conferences and symposia. At our annual convention,
members present their work and practices in more than 600 sessions.

education.
CEC Governance - CEC offers numerous opportunities for members

What are the different journals that you carry?
As a CEC member, you receive two professional journals as well as
CEC's newsletter--all giving you the most up-to-date and important
information about special education practice and policy.
TEACHING Exceptional Children is a practical,
classroom-oriented magazine. It's articles give special educators the
latest methods and materials they can use to help their students.
Exceptional Children is CEC's respected research journal that
gives educators an early look at the findings and trends that will
change both thinking and practice in the years ahead.
CEC Today, CEC's popular online member newsletter, provides
the latest information on trends, issues and practices affecting the
field today.

How often are your journals published (yearly, monthly, quarterly)

TEACHING Exceptional Children is published six times a
year: Sept., Nov., Jan., March, May, and July.
Exceptional Children is published four times a year:
Sept., Dec., March, and June.
CEC Today is published online 4 times a year: Jan,
April, July, and October..

What are the prices of your journals?
CEC members receive both journals, TEC and
EC, as well as CEC Today as part of their
membership.
For non-members, subscriptions to TEACHING Exceptional
Children cost $75.00, and subscriptions to Exceptional
Children cost $70.00.
I never received "X" journal, how can I get a replacement?

What is your return policy?
CEC offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all products. Books
may be returned for refund or credit excluding shipping.
Audiotapes, videotapes, DVDs and CD-ROMS may be returned for refund or
credit excluding shipping if unopened. If damaged, a replacement
copy will be mailed at no charge. Returns must be sent via UPS and
must be accompanied by an invoice nuber, order number, or a copy of the
original packing slip. Please address returns to: Council for
Exceptional Children, 1110 North Glebe Road, Suite 300, Arlington,
Virginia, 22201-5704, ATTN: Book Returns.
Returns from bookstores, school districts, universities, or corporate
customers must be received within 60 days of the invoice date. A
restocking fee of 25% is charged on all returns except as described in
the "Previewing Media" section. All returns must be in resaleable
condition as determined by our Order Fulfillment Department.
Credit memos will be issused for returns. All returns must include
an invoice number, order number or a copy of the original packing
slip.

How much is the convention?
Registration is for CEC's 2006 Convention is $327.00 for CEC members
before March 10, 2006. After that, it is $405.00. See the Convention
Registration Rates Web page for group, student, non-member and other
rates.
Do I get a discount for being a member of CEC?
CEC members receive more than a 30 percent discount on convention
registration.
If I bring a group of people, can I get a bigger registration
discount?
Groups of five or more receive a 10% discount on convention
registration over the standard member rate.
Do I get a discount on hotel rooms for being a member?
Yes - CEC negotiates the most favorable hotel rates for convention
attendees.
