Workgroups

Workgroups are established by the Board of Directors and are assigned a specific charge and outcomes to be completed within a designated period of time. Workgroup members have knowledge, skills, and expertise in a particular area of strategic importance to the Council. The workgroup chair reports to the Board of Directors through the President Elect.

Awards Workgroup
The workgroup is working on completing a description of the various professional, student, and Yes I Can! awards; options for enhancing the awards program; and the feasibility of a fund for excellence to coordinate all of the CEC awards.

Workgroup on Committees, Workgroups, and Other Advisory Groups
The workgroup is charged to clarify the purposes of CEC standing committees, ad hoc committees, workgroups, task forces, and advisory groups and their relationship to the Board of Directors, Representative Assembly, and/or staff. The workgroup is also to recommend standards for the establishment and management of such groups and review and recommend revisions to the Committee Handbook.

CEC's International Role Workgroup
The workgroup is charged to develop recommendations for CEC regarding the Council’s international roles and responsibilities and its global presence as a professional organization in special education.

Representative Assembly Workgroup
The workgroup advises the CEC President, who is the presiding officer of the Assembly, on procedures and formats for the effective conduct of Representative Assembly meetings and online discussions; develops a Representative Assembly Handbook; conducts an orientation for Representative Assembly members; and receives/identifies field-based issues for discussion by the Representative Assembly.
