Opportunities for Individuals from Diverse Backgrounds through CEC's Special Interest Divisions
CEC has two special interest divisions that advance the education of diverse children and provide leadership opportunities for individuals from diverse cultures. The Division for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Exceptional Learners (DDEL) advances educational opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse learners with disabilities and/or gifts and talents, their families, and the professionals who serve them. It is the only professional organization dedicated exclusively to the concerns of culturally and linguistically diverse exceptional learners.

The Division of International Special Education and Services (DISES) focuses on special education programs and services in other countries. DISES promotes international communication, cooperation, and progress in education and services for children and youth who have disabilities and/or are gifted and talented -- across all age groups, from infancy through adulthood.
