Opportunities for Individuals from Diverse
Backgrounds through CEC's Caucuses
CEC hosts several caucuses, each of which addresses different aspects of
diversity. These unofficial bodies make recommendations to CEC on
various issues concerning their constituencies. They are:
American Indian Caucus
The CEC American Indian Caucus is a network of educators interested in
advancing the education of American Indian children with disabilities
and supporting the professional advancement of American Indian special
educators. The American Indian Caucus serves as a forum for pre-service
students, faculty, educators, and administrators to exchange
information, share concerns, and make recommendations to CEC.
Asian American Caucus
The CEC Asian American Caucus is a network of educators interested in
advancing the education of Asian American children with disabilities and
supporting the professional advancement of Asian American special
educators. The Asian American Caucus serves as a forum for pre-service
students, faculty, educators, and administrators to exchange
information, share concerns, and make recommendations to CEC.
Black Caucus
The CEC Black Caucus is a network of educators interested in advancing
the education of Black children with disabilities and supporting the
professional advancement of African American special educators. The
Black Caucus serves as a forum for pre-service students, faculty,
educators, and administrators to exchange information, share concerns,
and make recommendations to CEC.
Educators with Disabilities Caucus
Educators with Disabilities Caucus (EDC) is a national network of
teachers with disabilities and persons interested in the topic of
educators with disabilities. EDC serves as a forum for preservice
students, faculty, educators, and administrators to exchange information
on recruiting, hiring and supporting teachers or related services
personnel who have disabilities.

Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Caucus
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Caucus provides educational information and
resources supportive of gay, lesbian and bisexual students, teachers and
parents or guardians.
