Teacher Preparation

The importance of preparing tomorrow’s special education teachers to meet the challenges they will face in the classroom cannot be overemphasized. In recent years, the emphasis on teacher preparation has moved away from that which can be shown on tests to how new teachers perform in the classroom and how their students achieve. Special education teacher preparation programs have also expanded to offer dual certification and alternate routes to certification, among other changes.

To help you stay abreast of the latest demands and movements in teacher preparation programming, CEC has created this resource. It includes information on instructional strategies, standards, current issues on teacher preparation, and resources.
