Candidate Statements:

Leadership. Personal and professional experience has taught me to learn from the past, accept challenge, question the process, communicate effectively, collaborate and encourage participation from others, and believe in a shared vision for the future. These qualities, along with my commitment and passion for CEC, are the foundation of my approach to carrying out the responsibilities and duties to lead and serve the organization and advance our profession.

Diversity. Acceptance and commitment to diversity is essential to success in meeting the needs of a highly diverse, multicultural organization. We must acknowledge and embrace the multifarious human qualities and capacities of our members and of our students, and celebrate the uniqueness of what each individual has to offer. Working towards a shared vision of an organization where differences of opinions, beliefs and values are sought, heard and respected is vital to the future of CEC.

Goals for CEC and the Field. CEC must be focused on organizational success sustained by accessible and unparalleled service to its membership and other stakeholders through first-class professional development, high quality support responsible advocacy, and effective policy-making. It must be a visible force at state/ provincial, national and international levels as a pre-eminent leader in the field of special education, responding to the growing public demand for quality services and accountability in a rapidly changing technological world.
