House Passes Rules on Restraint and Seclusion in Schools
On March 3, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Preventing Harmful Restraint and Seclusion in Schools Act, a bill that would establish the first federal safety standards for the use of restraint and seclusion in schools and thereby protect some of the nation’s most vulnerable students -- children and youth with disabilities. Regulations on restraint and seclusion practices currently vary from state to state.
U.S. Education Secretary to Speak at the CEC 2010 Convention & Expo
It’s official: Education Secretary Arne Duncan will present the keynote address next month at CEC 2010. Secretary Duncan will discuss the Obama Administration’s education agenda, specifically as it relates to students with exceptionalities, as well as the overall outlook for the future of education.
There’s Still Time To Save on CEC Convention & Expo Registration
The CEC 2010 Convention & Expo -- the largest professional development event dedicated to special and gifted education -- will be held April 21–24 in Nashville. Register by April 2 to take advantage of reduced registration rates.
